Overview / Event description
Universities continue to face challenges in designing assessment and feedback that are both inclusive and effective in supporting increasingly diverse student populations. This workshop allows academic staff to engage with contemporary approaches to assessment and feedback design, particularly emphasising racial justice and equity.
The workshop will explore literature and sector-wide insights to support participants in developing critically reflective and innovative practices. It aims to address racialised awarding gaps and promote more equitable learning outcomes.
Objectives
Learning Outcomes:
1. Develop a critical understanding of current sector challenges related to inclusive assessment and feedback, including the impact of racialised inequalities and structural barriers to student success.
2. Engage in collaborative discussion and in-depth exploration of racially inclusive assessment and feedback practices, drawing on key sector frameworks such as Tackling Racial Inequalities in Assessment (Campbell et al., 2021) and the Kingston Inclusive Curriculum Framework.
