This workshop is designed to enhance clarity and efficacy in conveying strategic messages through the art of storytelling. Participants will learn how to connect strategy with engaging narratives that inspire change and enhance knowledge, confidence, and intention among academic colleagues.

Key Outcomes:

  • Clarity of Message: Develop the ability to clearly articulate a cohesive message.
  • Strategic Storytelling: Learn to utilise storytelling to animate strategic goals, thereby positively impacting listeners.

Workshop Outline:

  • Welcome and Orientation: Setting the stage for the day's activities and expectations.
  • Entering into Story: Exploring personal narratives and tapping into narrative intelligence to uncover the stories we inherently carry.
  • The Power of Story: Understanding how stories can connect ideas, engage audiences, and inspire actions.
  • Story Triggers: Identifying and using triggers to evoke personal and collective stories relevant to the present moment.
  • The Invisible Ink: Practical session on crafting stories using tools, templates, and triggers designed to help participants weave compelling narratives.
  • Time for Story: Participants share, test, and review their stories in a supportive environment to refine their messaging.
  • Close and Appreciation: Reflecting on the day’s learnings and expressing gratitude for the contributions of all participants.

Workshop Approach:

Rather than a traditional classroom setting, the workshop will utilise interactive and playful activities:

  • Play Elements: Utilising tools like story dice to stimulate creativity and spontaneity.
  • Group Activities: Engaging in story circles and other group-based activities to foster collaboration and mutual learning.
  • Crafting Tools: Making use of structured templates and simple aids like post-its to assist in story development.

This workshop offers a unique opportunity for participants to master the skill of storytelling in a way that resonates with and motivates academic peers, encouraging practical and positive impact in their professional environments.
